AI log scaler system in SGS in Indonesia

On October 5, 2026, the Precision team conducted an on-site technical exchange meeting at the SGS factory in Surabaya, Indonesia. We officially introduced the newly developed AI intelligent log scaling system and demonstrated its complete operation process and practical application scenarios. The SGS technical team raised detailed questions about system principles, measurement logic and on-site adaptability. After on-site accuracy testing, SGS highly recognized the system’s stability, precision and intelligent advantages, and expressed strong interest in further cooperation and implementation.

As one of Indonesia’s largest plywood manufacturers, SGS operates 14 factories across the country with an annual plywood output of 100,000 cubic meters. The factory mainly processes local Albasia softwood, with log diameters ranging from 10 cm to 30 cm. According to local scaling standards, Albasia log volume is calculated by averaging the maximum and minimum diameters of the log small end, a traditional manual procedure that is complicated and labor-intensive.

The SGS Surabaya plant alone purchases 7,000 cubic meters of logs every month, which previously required 14 professional workers to complete manual scaling. Traditional manual inspection is time-consuming, costly and lacks reliable data traceability. In contrast, the Precision AI log scaling system only requires one operator to finish the entire inspection work efficiently. All data is automatically stored in the cloud backend with full traceability, effectively eliminating manual errors. It enables standardized, digital and refined log management, helping wood factories greatly reduce costs and improve overall production efficiency.
